BexleyStop Smoking Service's Advisor of the Year Event was held at The Marriott Bexleyheath on Wednesday 6th July 2011.
Local MP David Evennett presented the Awards to the top ten Stop Smoking Advisors in Bexley. This year's winner was Linda Law from Bellegrove Road Surgery in Welling. Runner-up was Claire Cruickshank from Lakeside Medical Centre with Jenny Kennedy from Woodlands Surgery in Sidcup in third place. The awards were given on the basis of the greatest number of smokers helped to quit by individual advisors based in GP practices. The Stop Smoking Service in Bexley is made up of Advisors working in GP practices, pharmacists and Specialist Advisors from the core team. During 2010/11 over 1600 people were supported to stop smoking, which was a tremendous achievement. Smoking prevalence in Bexley is now down to 18.8% according to the Department of Health Profile 2011, which is better than the national average of 21.2%.
