Bexley's Specialist Stop Smoking Team
Bexley Stop Smoking Service has taken stop smoking support out into the community by using Bexley's Mobile Bus in local areas.
The team have provided lung age testing to hundreds of local people who have boarded the Quit Bus. They have also directed those who want to give up smoking to their nearest provider of stop smoking support or given weekly support on the bus. This means that smokers trying to stop have been able to access friendly advice, have their carbon monoxide readings taken and keep motivated to stay off cigarettes whilst they do their weekly shop.
The Stop Smoking Mobile Support Team are at Bexleyheath Clock Tower every Saturday between 10 am and 2pm and also have a regular weekly slot right outside Morrison's in the car park at Erith on Wednesday mornings. between 9.30 am and 1.30 pm. Free Lung Age testing is available as well as on-going weekly support to “stop while you shop”. No pressure – just friendly support and advice. If you’re currently a 20-a-day smoker paying £5.80 for a packet of cigarettes, you could save over £40 a week. After a month of not smoking you could have £176 for a shopping spree in Morrison’s!
