Tina, Queen Mary's

Tina also attended one of the free six week courses at Queen Mary’s.  She says:

“I’ve tried everything in the past to give up smoking as I really wanted to get away from constantly wanting a cigarette. I started smoking at 15 and thought I could give it up whenever I liked. It’s so hard once you’re a smoker! I was hypnotised twice which cost me £300 and didn’t even work!  I’d also tried patches in the past but I never had any support so I just carried on smoking.  I decided to sign up to one of the courses as I realised I would never be able to do it on my own. I’ve now been a whole  year without smoking. I can’t believe I’ve done it! My main reason was because my brother died of lung cancer. He was a lifelong smoker and was only 60 when he died. I smoked for many years and – even though I still have my moments – I’m determined not to go back to smoking again. I can breathe again now!
